Denmark : PhD position available in large 2-stroke engines for ship propulsion


DTU and MAN Diesel and Turbo collaborate on research in energy- and environmental optimization of diesel engines. MAN Diesel and Turbo is the world's largest producer of diesel engines for large ship propulsion systems. In this context a PhD position is available at DTU Mechanical Engineering as soon as possible.

The topic for the PhD project is the influence of fuel sulfur on the performance of large 2-stroke diesel engines. In this context the influence of sulfur on corrosion and mechanical wear inside the combustion chamber is of particular interest.

Requirements
The applicant must have a master degree in mechanical engineering or have similar qualifications. It is important that you have much experience with combustion engines and that you also have good qualifications within one or more of the following fields: mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transmission and physical chemistry. It is further required that you have good qualifications in English language.
Approval and EnrolmentThe scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current Danish rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
